What the project will achieve:

  • Establishment of new Regional Waste Management Centers to augment or replace existing landfills.
  • A larger portion of the population (Kruševac: 85%, Vranje 78%) will have access to a regulated disposal of residential waste to the newly created Regional Waste Management Centers.
  • Municipal waste transported yearly to the new RWMC should reach approx. 50,000 tons in Kruševac and 40,000 in Vranje by2025.

Introduction of the separate collection of recyclabe materials and organic waste.

  • The amount of recyclabes recoverd from municipal waste will go from 150 to 1,000 tons/year in Kruševac, and from 60 to 800 tons/year in Vranje by 2025.
  • Compost production (800 tons/year in Kruševac, 600 tons/year in Vranje) will also be strongly encouraged.

All the while considering social affordability for the affected populations and cost-coverage for the municipalities.
